Quote by Plutarch
I made this piece during a time when I was productive and unemployed. I was fired from a job that I had no business being hired for. Actually I was surprised to get an offer considering how bad my interview with the owner of the company went. I don’t need to elaborate - getting fired stings.
Around this time friends started a website around illustrated recipes. It quickly evolved into a community of illustrators. Great idea. I tried to build something similar. I would use hand lettering. It became a community of one and I thrived artistically.
I lettered a quote a day. My style and approach to lettering changed. I experimented with different tools. I opened an Etsy shop where I sold my designs. Losing my job became a blessing in disguise. My shop paid for community college and retraining. I returned to the workforce with new skills.
Plutarch was onto something.
“Time is the wisest of all counselors.”
