Small cheer does bring great joy
Every year around Christmas time our next door neighbor brought over a paper plate full of homemade cookies covered in plastic wrap. As a kid the annual gift never failed to disappoint. My favorite was the peanut butter drops with the Hershey kiss. Our neighbor included a tea cookie that looked like a greek cookie my grandmother made. It had a dash of chopped nuts. Not a favorite but I ate it until my grandmother showed up with her batch. After our neighbor moved to new house about a mile away she would continue to deliver cookies. Makes me smile just thinking about it. If you think a tray of cookies doesn’t bring small cheer and great joy you’re lying to yourself.
Here’s the quote by Shakespeare, “Small cheer and great welcome make a merry feast.”
