It Starts With The Letter A
I started yet another creative thing. I’m committing myself to this blog by posting a letter a week. Not an ambitious goal thankfully. One letter per week, that’s it. I’m using a style I developed from my 100 Days Project back in 2015 or 2014 or 2016, I don’t remember exactly. Ten years ago the Internet was a nicer place. Blogs were popping. Folks were making and creating. Every day was a new adventure in ‘interneting’. So many things to see, so many stories to read, so many ways to connect with people. Wait, wait, people did get a little prickly in the comments sections of blog posts. Flaming was a thing. So, hmm, come to think of it the Internet wasn’t so nice 10 years ago but I know it wasn’t a toxic stew of ridiculousness and stupidity.
Ok, so back to the reason I’m here. I’m drawing a letter a week, starting with the letter A. Years ago, a friend gave me a book about the letter A. From front to back it was full of variations of the first letter in the alphabet. So using the first letter of the alphabet is an appropriate place to commence with the blogging and lettering commitment.
How did I create this letter?
I start with the triangle shape then let my mind and hand wander around the letter. I keep letter construction in mind then go crazy with doodling and coloring.
Here’s a list of tools I used
Muji Pens, 0.38 tips
Kokuyo Dual Colored Pencils
Muji newsprint sketchbook with preprinted storyboard panels.
